About me

Bonjour! I'm Emmanuelle, a native French speaker originally from the suburbs of Paris and a qualified French teacher based in the UK.

My passion for languages and education began during my university studies in France, where I studied English-speaking cultures, including literature, history, cinema and politics, alongside teaching and pedagogy. After an Erasmus exchange in Bristol, I decided to pursue my teaching career in the UK.

I believe that learning French should be enjoyable, engaging and, above all, confidence-building. Having learnt foreign languages myself, I understand how challenging it can be to communicate in another language, particularly when speaking. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and progressing at their own pace.

My teaching style is friendly, interactive and adaptable. I enjoy using games, cultural references and real-life situations to make lessons meaningful and engaging. Whether you are preparing for an examination, looking for extra support with schoolwork, learning French from scratch or simply wanting to improve your conversational skills, I will tailor my lessons to your needs and interests.

Outside teaching, I enjoy travelling, discovering new cultures, watching films and learning languages myself. I particularly enjoy sharing my knowledge of French culture and everyday life in France with my students.

Teaching experince

I hold a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Sussex, which I completed with honours, and have successfully completed my Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction.

My teaching career began as a French Language Assistant at a secondary school and sixth form college in Birmingham, where I supported GCSE and A Level students with their speaking skills, pronunciation and oral examination preparation.

I currently work as a Modern Foreign Languages teacher at an independent school in Wiltshire, teaching pupils from Nursery through to Sixth Form. This has given me experience working with a wide range of ages, abilities and learning needs.

I have experience teaching French across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including preparing students for GCSE and A Level examinations. I am familiar with the British curriculum and the skills required for success in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

My teaching approach combines clear explanations, structured practice and interactive activities. I regularly use phonics, vocabulary-building exercises, conversation practice and scaffolded tasks to help students develop both accuracy and confidence.

I also have experience supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), adapting my teaching and resources to accommodate different learning styles, abilities and individual needs.
